Terms of Use

Rules for accounts, AI learning features, and App Store subscriptions.

Effective · July 23, 2026
01

Agreement and eligibility

These Terms of Use (“Terms”) are an agreement between you and the developer identified on the English News App Store product page. By downloading, accessing, or using English News: Read & Learn, you agree to these Terms and the Privacy Policy. You must be at least 18 years old and legally able to enter into this agreement. If you do not agree, do not use the app.

02

The service

English News provides reading materials, vocabulary tools, quizzes, progress tracking, pronunciation and speaking practice, recommendations, and AI-assisted chat and translation. Features, free-use limits, supported languages, content, and availability may change over time. The app requires a compatible device and may require internet access.

03

Accounts and account security

The app may create an anonymous account so learning progress can be saved. You may link that account with Sign in with Apple when offered. You are responsible for controlling your device and Apple Account and for activity performed through your account. Do not share authentication tokens, passwords, or verification codes. Notify support if you believe your account has been compromised.

04

License and ownership

Subject to these Terms and Apple’s applicable usage rules, you receive a personal, limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable license to use the app on devices you own or control. English News, its software, design, branding, original learning materials, and related intellectual property remain owned by the developer or applicable licensors. You may not copy, sell, sublicense, reverse engineer, scrape, or create derivative works except where applicable law expressly permits it.

05

Your content and AI chat

You retain rights in text you submit. You grant us and our service providers a limited worldwide license to host, store, transmit, reproduce, and process that content only as needed to operate, secure, and improve the service and generate requested AI responses. Do not submit confidential information, personal data about another person without permission, illegal material, or content that infringes third-party rights.

06

AI and educational-content disclaimer

AI-generated replies, translations, pronunciations, explanations, scores, and recommendations may be incomplete, inaccurate, outdated, or inappropriate. Review important information independently. English News does not provide legal, medical, financial, immigration, academic-admission, certification, or other professional advice. Use of the app does not guarantee exam results, fluency, employment, or any specific learning outcome.

07

Premium subscriptions and free trials

08

Free features, virtual items, and limits

Free accounts may have limits on articles, chat messages, hearts, or other features. XP, gems, hearts, streak freezes, and similar virtual items have no cash value, cannot be transferred, and may be adjusted when needed to correct errors, prevent abuse, or rebalance the learning experience. They are not purchases unless clearly offered through Apple’s In-App Purchase system.

09

Acceptable use

You must not misuse the service, probe or bypass security, access another user’s account, automate excessive requests, interfere with service operation, manipulate purchases or virtual items, use AI features to create unlawful or abusive content, upload malware, violate another person’s rights, or use the app in violation of law or applicable third-party terms.

10

Third-party content and services

The app relies on services including Apple, RevenueCat, PostHog, Google Gemini, Expo, and backend or hosting providers. It may also link to third-party news sources or content. Third-party services are governed by their own terms and privacy practices, may change independently, and may be unavailable in some regions. You must comply with applicable third-party terms when using the app.

11

Availability and changes

We may add, modify, suspend, or discontinue features, limits, content, or integrations. Maintenance, quotas, security events, network problems, and third-party outages may interrupt access. Where required, we will provide reasonable notice before ending a paid service and will continue to honor access required by applicable App Store rules and law.

12

Suspension, termination, and deletion

We may restrict or terminate access for serious or repeated violations, security risks, fraud, unlawful use, or conduct that harms the service or others. You may delete your app account from English News → Settings → Account & Security → Delete Account. Account deletion is permanent and removes associated learning data subject to the retention described in the Privacy Policy. It does not cancel an Apple subscription, which must be managed separately.

13

Disclaimers

To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, the app and service are provided “as is” and “as available,” without warranties of uninterrupted availability, accuracy, fitness for a particular purpose, or non-infringement. Nothing in these Terms excludes warranties or consumer rights that cannot legally be excluded.

14

Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, the developer is not liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, loss of data, loss of opportunity, or business interruption arising from use of the app. These limits do not apply where prohibited by law, including liability that cannot be limited under applicable consumer-protection law.

15

Apple terms

The app is licensed, not sold. Unless a valid custom end-user license agreement is presented in App Store Connect, Apple’s Standard End User License Agreement applies to the app. These Terms govern the English News service and supplement that license; if there is a conflict, mandatory law and the applicable Apple terms control. This agreement is between you and the English News developer, not Apple. Apple is not responsible for operating or supporting English News. Apple and its subsidiaries are intended third-party beneficiaries of the Apple-related provisions and may enforce them.

16

Changes, governing rules, and contact

We may update these Terms to reflect changes in the service, providers, or law. The effective date above identifies the current version. Continued use after an update means you accept the revised Terms where permitted by law. Applicable mandatory consumer law remains unaffected. For questions, complaints, or claims, use the English News Support page or email [email protected].
