1. Overview

This Privacy Policy explains how One Minute Talks (“One Minute Talks,” “we,” “us,” or “our”) collects, uses, stores, and shares information when you use the One Minute Talks mobile application, website, and related services (collectively, the “Service”).

We use information only to provide and improve the Service, generate the speaking feedback you request, manage subscriptions, maintain security, and comply with applicable law. We do not sell personal information and we do not use your speech content for targeted advertising.

2. Information we collect

Account and contact information

If you create an account or sign in, we may collect your email address, account identifier, profile information, and authentication information. If you contact support, we receive your email address, message, and any screenshots or other information you choose to provide.

Speech and learning information

When you complete a speaking session, we may process the audio recording, transcript, selected topic, session duration, speech score, words-per-minute result, filler-word information, wording suggestions, coach feedback, streaks, progress, and related learning history.

Device, usage, and diagnostic information

We and our service providers may process limited technical information such as app version, device type, operating-system version, language, country or region, IP address, timestamps, feature interactions, error logs, and crash information. This information is used for app functionality, security, troubleshooting, and performance improvement.

Purchase and subscription information

We may receive the purchased product, subscription status, purchase and expiration dates, transaction identifiers, and entitlement status. We do not receive or store your full payment-card details.

3. How we collect information

Information is collected:

  • Directly from you when you create an account, speak, change settings, or contact support;
  • From your microphone after you grant iOS microphone permission and start a speaking session;
  • Automatically through the app and its service providers when the Service is used;
  • From Apple and RevenueCat in connection with purchases and subscriptions.

4. Microphone, recordings, and transcripts

One Minute Talks requests microphone access so you can record a speaking session and receive transcription, analysis, and personalized feedback. The microphone is accessed only after you grant permission and actively begin a recording.

When you complete a speaking session, the raw audio recording is uploaded to and stored in our Supabase Storage infrastructure. We store the recording so that you can listen to your previous speaking sessions again inside the app and so that we can provide the speech-analysis features you request.

The recording may be converted into a transcript and analyzed to create results such as a speech score, words-per-minute measurement, filler-word information, fluency insights, wording suggestions, and coach notes. Depending on the requested feature, the raw recording, transcript, selected topic, and limited session context may be processed by OpenAI through our backend.

Recordings are not made publicly available. Access is limited to the user associated with the session, our authorized service providers, and authorized personnel where access is reasonably necessary to operate, secure, troubleshoot, or support the Service.

You can revoke microphone access at any time in iOS Settings. Revoking microphone permission prevents new recordings, but it does not delete recordings or transcripts that were previously uploaded and stored.

5. Artificial intelligence and OpenAI

We use OpenAI API services to provide speech transcription and/or generate personalized feedback. Information necessary to perform the feature is sent to OpenAI through our backend. Depending on the requested feature, this may include the recording, transcript, speaking topic, and limited session instructions or context.

OpenAI processes this information on our behalf to return the requested output. OpenAI states that data submitted through its API is not used to train its models by default. Under OpenAI’s standard API data controls, API inputs and outputs may be retained for up to 30 days for abuse and security monitoring, unless a different retention control applies or longer retention is required by law or reasonably necessary to prevent harm.

We do not use your recordings, transcripts, or generated feedback to train our own artificial intelligence models. Please avoid including highly sensitive personal information in a speaking session.

Learn more in OpenAI’s API data controls and OpenAI’s Privacy Policy.

6. Data storage and Supabase

We use Supabase as our backend infrastructure provider for database hosting, authentication, APIs, and file storage. Raw audio recordings are stored in Supabase Storage so that users can listen to their previous speaking sessions again inside the app.

Other information stored through Supabase may include your account identifier and email address, settings, selected speaking topics, transcripts, speech scores and metrics, AI-generated feedback, progress, streaks, session timestamps, and subscription-entitlement status.

A recording and its related session information may remain stored while the session remains associated with your account and while storage is reasonably necessary to provide replay, history, progress, and feedback features. You may request deletion of your recordings, session history, or account by contacting us as explained in the “Data retention and deletion” section below.

Supabase projects are hosted in a geographic region selected by us. Supabase and its subprocessors may process information to provide hosting, storage, backup, infrastructure, and security services.

Learn more in Supabase’s Privacy Policy.

7. Apple and RevenueCat

Payments and auto-renewable subscriptions are processed by Apple through the App Store. Apple handles payment credentials and may provide transaction and subscription information needed to confirm access.

We use RevenueCat to manage subscription entitlements, purchase status, and restoration of eligible purchases. RevenueCat may process app user identifiers, transaction identifiers, product identifiers, subscription dates and status, device or platform information, and related subscription events.

Learn more in Apple’s Privacy Policy and RevenueCat’s Privacy Policy.

8. How we use information

  • Provide speaking exercises, transcription, scores, feedback, and learning history;
  • Create and maintain accounts, settings, progress, and streaks;
  • Recognize premium access, validate entitlements, and restore purchases;
  • Respond to support requests and communicate about the Service;
  • Protect users, investigate misuse, and maintain security;
  • Diagnose errors and improve reliability, performance, and user experience;
  • Comply with legal obligations and enforce our Terms of Use.

9. How we share information

We share information only as needed with service providers that help us operate the Service, including OpenAI, Supabase, Apple, and RevenueCat. We may also disclose information where required by law, to protect legal rights or safety, or as part of a business transfer such as a merger or acquisition.

We require service providers that process information on our behalf to handle it under contractual, technical, and organizational protections designed to provide protection consistent with this Policy. We do not sell personal information or share it with data brokers.

10. Data retention and deletion

Raw audio recordings are retained in Supabase Storage so that you can listen to previous speaking sessions again and access the related transcript, metrics, and feedback. Recordings and associated session information may remain stored while the session remains associated with your account and while the information is reasonably necessary to provide the Service.

Account information and saved learning history may be retained while your account remains active. Transaction records may be retained for accounting, fraud prevention, dispute resolution, and legal compliance. OpenAI’s handling of API inputs and outputs follows the retention practices described in Section 5.

You may request deletion of individual recordings, speaking-session history, or your account and associated information by emailing [email protected]. Include the email address or account identifier connected to the app and describe what you want deleted. We may need to verify your identity before completing the request.

After a verified deletion request, we delete or anonymize information that we are not legally required to retain. Limited copies may remain temporarily in restricted backups until those backups are overwritten through normal retention cycles. App Store purchase history controlled by Apple must be managed through Apple. Deleting the app does not automatically delete your account, stored recordings, or subscription.

11. Your choices and rights

Depending on your location, you may have the right to request access, correction, deletion, restriction, objection, or a copy of certain personal information. You may also:

  • Revoke microphone and notification permissions in iOS Settings;
  • Manage or cancel subscriptions through your Apple ID subscription settings;
  • Contact us to ask how your information is used or to submit a privacy request.

To exercise a privacy right, email [email protected].

12. Legal bases for processing

Where applicable law requires a legal basis, we process information to perform the Service you request, based on your consent, for our legitimate interests in operating and securing the Service, and to comply with legal obligations. You may withdraw consent where processing is based on consent, without affecting processing that occurred before withdrawal.

13. International data transfers

One Minute Talks and its service providers may process information in countries other than the country where you live. Where required, we use contractual and other safeguards intended to protect information transferred internationally.

14. Security

We use reasonable technical and organizational measures designed to protect information, including access controls and secure network transmission. No storage or transmission method is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

15. Children’s privacy

One Minute Talks is not directed to children under the minimum age required to consent to data processing in their country without parental authorization. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children in violation of applicable law. A parent or guardian may contact us to request deletion.

16. Changes to this Policy

We may update this Policy as the Service or legal requirements change. The revised Policy will be posted on this page with an updated date. Where appropriate, material changes may also be communicated in the app.
